Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction (Dams, Tunnels, Underground)
About the role
Engineering & Construction Innovations, Inc. (ECI) offers project engineering opportunities in Oakdale, Minnesota, with project assignments in Minot, ND. The position offers a salary range of $75,000 - $105,000 per year, contingent upon experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement project quality control plans
- Interpret drawings and specifications, perform quantity calculations and material takeoffs
- Develop weekly look-ahead schedules to help the Superintendent stay ahead of project work
- Field surveying and layout alongside our crews
- Prepare work plans and schedule material deliveries
- Maintain project records, including daily reports, photos, and job cost data
- Support change orders and as-built documentation
- Learn cost tracking and scheduling from project managers who will train you to run your own work
- Learn, collaborate, and innovate on each project
- Travel
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 1-2 years of U.S. Based heavy civil experience (internships and co-ops count)
- Able to read and work from construction drawings
- Willing and able to work on project sites away from home for extended periods
- Authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without employer sponsorship
Qualifications
- A plus, but not required: dam, hydro, tunnel, or geotechnical project exposure
- EIT certification
- Survey or layout experience
- An internship with a heavy civil or underground contractor
Skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

$75,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience
Based in Oakdale, Minnesota, with project assignments in Minot, ND. Project related travel is typically 50-75%.
