Job Summary

The Project Engineer will provide operational support on assigned construction projects to ensure completion within established budget, time, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, solicit, monitor, and coordinate project documentation and administrative functions to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of project records.
  • Create, maintain, and update project documentation and reporting logs such as daily reports, RFIs, change events, as-builts, agendas, and meeting minutes.
  • Review project turnover documents, specifications, drawings, contracts, and jobsite logistics; coordinate procurement of materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Support the Project Manager by assisting with cost audits, monitoring labor, material, and overhead expenses, and helping ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Participate in project meetings to monitor performance, shop drawing requirements, and material deliveries.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment by demonstrating flexibility, anticipating obstacles, and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
  • Utilize the Project Management Procedures Manual and related forms in alignment with company policy.
  • Participate in project closeout to ensure timely completion, including preparation of punch lists, securing warranties and guarantees, compiling O&M manuals, and coordinating with owners and architects.
  • Promote and reinforce company safety policies, ensuring compliance with the Corporate Health and Safety Management Program across all project activities.
  • Perform additional project management support tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience with at least 1 year in a construction-related role (internships or craft professional experience accepted).
  • A BA/BS/AS or accredited degree may substitute for up to 4 years of experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel) and basic knowledge of construction/project management software such as Procore (preferred), CMiC, Asta/MS Project, Revit, and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with contract administration processes, including RFIs, schedules of values, monthly billings, bar chart schedules (with predecessors/successors, constraints, float, and lags), and AIA contracts (A101, A121, A133, A401).
