Construction Project Engineer
IPS, a global leader in technical consulting, architecture, engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, qualification, and validation services for technically complex facilities, is seeking a talented Construction Project Engineer to join our team in Leawood, Kansas. This role supports projects based in the Midwest and requires overnight travel.
About the role
In this position, you will provide technical, administrative, and subcontractor management support to Project Managers and Project Directors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate development and maintenance of execution plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Manage documentation, submittals, RFIs, and communication among project stakeholders.
- Support procurement, contract administration, and change management processes.
- Participate in safety planning and quality assurance, including shop drawing reviews and design compliance.
- Track project costs, invoice preparation, and reporting.
- Maintain project documentation systems and assist with closeout deliverables and turnover packages.
- Contribute to marketing materials, proposals, and ongoing team coordination across departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent technical degree.
- 1-3 years of experience in Engineering, Project Delivery, or a related discipline.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
Work Environment
- 25% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
- May be assigned to a client site for an extended period.
- Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment.
- Must visit construction sites and adhere to site safety rules, including completing required safety training.
- Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
- Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying weather.
Safety
This is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
