About the role

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Bridge Department in Wall Township, NJ. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex transportation infrastructure projects, including bridge rehabilitation, replacement, and transportation improvement projects. The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of these projects, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to all phases of project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for bridge and transportation-related structures, including new construction, rehabilitation, and replacement projects
  • Prepare engineering calculations, design plans, technical reports, specifications, and other project documentation
  • Develop structural models and perform analysis using bridge design software such as LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, STAAD, or similar programs
  • Aid in bridge load rating analyses and structural evaluations
  • Support project delivery efforts by coordinating design activities, tracking project requirements, and assisting with schedules and deliverables
  • Collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental, and construction engineering teams to support integrated project solutions
  • Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, NJDOT standards, and applicable local agency requirements to engineering designs
  • Participate in field visits, bridge inspections, and data collection activities to support design and construction assignments
  • Review design documents for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements
  • Absorb technical guidance, mentor junior staff, and develop engineering solutions
  • Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and other business development activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in bridge design and structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with bridge analysis and design software such as LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, STAAD, or equivalent
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and NJDOT design procedures
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary project team
  • Demonstrated interest in continued professional growth and development

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, qualifications, and skill set.
