Position Summary
Provide hands-on engineering support for design, installation, commissioning, modification, and troubleshooting of utility systems and automated manufacturing equipment in a food production (GMP/aseptic/powder) environment. Work on the plant floor with equipment, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver capital projects, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CAPEX project delivery: scope development, design reviews, specifications, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Test and validate newly installed machines and equipment against contract specifications.
- Cook up and manage line installations, start-ups, decommissioning, and on-floor troubleshooting.
- Support maintenance, vendors, integrators, manufacturing, quality, and safety teams during operations and projects.
- Prepare engineering deliverables: calculations, diagrams, technical reports, regulatory documents, SOPs, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Aid with spare parts assessment, work order scheduling, KPI analysis, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Support compliance activities related to deviations, CAPA, change control, and Contamination Investigations.
- Other Duties As Assigned.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years? experience with automated equipment in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- 3+ years? experience with mechanical and electrical systems; experience with plant utilities (HVAC, fire suppression, compressed air, boilers, steam).
- PLC Troubleshooting Skills Required.
- Strong Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, hands-on skills, and ability to work on production floor.
- Proficient in reporting, technical documentation, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of GMP, food safety, OSHA/safety requirements.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, be on-call, and travel between MA locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aseptic and/or powder manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record with automation, OEM equipment, and project execution.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and project prioritization skills.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Primarily on-site in manufacturing environment; must follow GMP, food safety, and PPE requirements (hair/beard nets, safety shoes, glasses).
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk on concrete floors, bend, reach, and use hand tools and measuring devices.
- Occasional domestic travel between MA sites.
