About the Role
The Project Director is an integral member of the Workforce & Economic Development team and will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing programming related to student success, workforce training, and employment. This role requires a highly organized and results-driven leader who can manage teams, oversee budgets, and coordinate with stakeholders to drive project success. The Project Director will provide strategic direction, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, and execute strategic projects to ensure successful outcomes aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to project team members, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of project staff as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Ensure project staff adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Work with multiple community partners and administer program contracts.
- Monitor performance according to contracts and coordinate activities among various agencies and institutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Services, Social Work, Management, Social Sciences, Public Administration/Policy, Urban Planning, or other relevant areas.
- A minimum of three (3) years of social service planning and work experience.
- Two (2) years of experience working with multiple community partners and administering program contracts (can be concurrent with the above).
- Demonstrated administrative and managerial skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing a personal computer and software programs, especially Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with a fully insurable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a desk for long periods and operate a computer workstation and telephone.
- Ability to communicate in person, via email, and over the telephone with a variety of people daily.
- Occasionally carries and moves light loads up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes.
- Reasoning skills to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in non-standardized situations.
Schedule
Must be able to work 40 hours per week with flexible hours on occasion, including nights and weekends to accommodate meetings and functions critical to position goals and objectives.

- This position is grant-funded and may be terminated if performance measures are not adequately met.
