Job Summary
The Project Director is responsible for overall management of the project. This position is accountable for managing a safe, effective, and efficient operation and adhering to the Company values, policies, and procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor safety, job cost, schedules, and quality of work on all assigned projects.
- Provide assistance in preconstruction as needed to determine optimal staffing, schedule, labor and equipment needs.
- Be an active part of the office leadership team and contribute to the executive direction and leadership of the area office, by participating in strategic discussions regarding the course and direction of the company.
- Work and collaborate with other offices and Human Resources regarding personnel assignments, training initiative and project pursuits.
- Understand role as the primary manager of our construction activities.
- Aid in developing goals for all assigned personnel; evaluate personnel and recommend adjustments to enhance career advancement based on performance.
- Prepare and conduct timely performance communication of assigned personnel.
- Consult and communicate with Vice President of Management Operations on as needed basis.
- Visit assigned jobsites at a minimum of once per month. While on site, inspect project overall status including, without limitation: safety policies and procedures adherence, schedule status and update of schedule changes/modifications.
- Report monthly to Division President and VP on status of assigned projects and personnel.

- Effectively train, coach, discipline, and develop employees to achieve and maintain positive working relationships within the department.
- Manage the workforce in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability

- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, especially in providing direction to employees and communicating with architects, clients, subcontractors and third parties;
- Perform all duties and operational procedures utilizing company information technology systems;
- Understand and manage all aspects of construction contracting and operations;
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, roles & responsibilities of all parties, means & methods, bonds & insurance and risk management;
- Communicate effectively, both orally and writing, especially in providing written and oral instructions to employees and in communicating with clients, architects, and subcontractors;
- Have organizational leadership skills, communications skills, and analytical skills;
- Read and comprehend technical and statistical data, and interpret legal documents;
- Lead large groups of personnel and to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a Construction related discipline, Business Administration, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Extensive experience of progressively responsible experience in construction, management, estimating, scheduling and field personnel management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally, especially when managing multiple projects and during problematic opening and/or closing phases of projects, mental stress can be taxing.
- May be required to work long hours for extended periods of time.
