The Manhattan Borough Commissioner seeks a Community Coordinator to support their administrative needs. This position requires a combination of community work experience and strong organizational and communication skills.
About the Role
This role involves managing the Borough Commissioner’s calendar, coordinating meetings and appointments, and providing administrative support. The successful candidate will also handle constituent communications and special projects as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Borough Commissioner’s calendar and coordinate meetings and appointments
- Create and maintain spreadsheets and charts using data provided by the Borough Commissioner and staff
- Assign and review briefing materials, PowerPoint presentations, and reports for the Borough Commissioner
- Coordinate travel arrangements and other logistics for key meetings and activities
- Direct and maintain information flow to the Borough Commissioner for timely responses
- Organize files and materials for review
- Research, prioritize, and follow up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Borough Commissioner
- Communicate directly with all divisions, other city agencies, and key agency partners on behalf of the Borough Commissioner
- Assist in gathering information and preparing correspondence on behalf of the Borough Commissioner and the Borough
- Draft correspondence and respond to constituents, elected officials, community boards, and others on behalf of the Borough Commissioner
- Follow up and close out correspondence in the tracking system
- Provide general office support such as copying, answering phones, maintaining files, and other duties
- Assist with special projects as needed
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities, or
- A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities, or
- Educational and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first option
Preferred Skills
- At least two to five years of experience in directly supporting senior executives
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Manhattan Parks and Borough priorities
- Valid New York State driver license

$62,868.00 – $97,593.00 annually
