Project Design Mechanical Engineer, Fleet Remediation Engineering

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Remediation Project Design Mechanical Engineer. As this engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers that remediate issues, upgrade our existing infrastructure, or add new services. You will be the "go to" engineering resource for these projects and will provide lifecycle support from design through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Use your mechanical expertise to own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions which add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability
• Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region
• Interface with internal and external data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions
• Act as a technical subject matter expert for your given discipline during new remediation projects
• Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover
• Manage design and as built drawings and documents
• Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders

Basic qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Preferred qualifications

• Professional Engineer License
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Skills

• Strong engineering judgement and ability to provide design and recommendations despite uncertainty
• Detail and data oriented with familiarity with design/construction processes
• Experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants
• Ability to build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design)
• Inclined to get into the field to see things up close

Pay

• USA, OH, COLUMBUS - 116,800.00 - 160,000.00 USD annually
