About the role
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for leadership, direction, management and performance of a project controls department. The role ensures that the reporting systems for project controls, the project controls roles and staff, and the tools used in project controls are developed, available, and functioning according to enterprise Project Management Center of Excellence requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assure that the reporting systems for project controls, the project controls roles and staff, and the tools used in project controls are developed, available, and functioning according to enterprise Project Management Center of Excellence requirements.
- Support Project Managers and Project Directors on projects and programs of varying size and complexity.
- Lead and direct the organization that provides reviews of the project controls status (cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, etc.).
- Coach and mentor Project Controls Specialists.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with existing and potential clients, customers, and contractors to develop additional business.
- Lead the review of upstream (prime contract) / downstream (purchase orders & subcontract) change orders.
- Analyze and validate cash flow reports.
- Lead the Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
- Provide recommendation on schedule work arounds and mitigation efforts to the team.
- Validate the accuracy of earned value management system reporting.
- Analyze and validate progress curves.
- Lead the review of material takeoffs.
- Oversee the risk management process by identifying and mitigating risk potentials to the project.
- Validate quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
- Lead Project Forensic Analysis.
- Interface with the Project Management Team and Accounting Department to review project costs and contingency costs and support external audits.
- Lead the presentation of Project Controls reporting.
- Lead and direct schedule management involving critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting, and document control for multiple projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 7 years of direct project controls experience required.
- Prior experience with critical path scheduling, project cost management, estimating, and document control required.
- Extensive Accounting knowledge preferred.
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred.
- Experience with Earned Value Management system preferred.
- Ability to facilitate and produce detailed construction schedules and interface those construction schedules with engineering and procurement activities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft office.
Qualifications
