Project Controls Manager
About the role
Techno is expanding its Program Controls team and is looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to support a major transportation infrastructure program in New Jersey. This role will focus on overseeing project controls systems, reporting processes, scheduling coordination, cost tracking, and PMIS administration across large-scale capital improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of technical project controls expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience working within complex multi-stakeholder infrastructure environments. This position will play a key role in supporting program delivery, improving reporting visibility, and maintaining consistency across project controls operations.
What you'll do
- Lead project controls activities across major infrastructure and transportation projects from planning through construction delivery.
- Oversee PMIS and project controls workflows related to scheduling, cost management, reporting, forecasting, and document integration.
- Support implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of project controls systems and reporting tools.
- Cookordination with project managers, engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project reporting.
- Monitor project performance metrics including budget status, schedule progress, risk items, forecasting, and resource tracking.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, executive reports, presentations, and program-level controls documentation.
- Review project schedules and cost reports to identify trends, delays, risks, and potential impacts to program delivery.
- Ensure consistency in project controls procedures, standards, and data management practices across multiple active projects.
- Support leadership with program reporting, controls strategy, and operational planning initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and coordination support to junior project controls and PMIS staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in project controls, PMIS administration, program controls, or construction controls management.
- Strong experience supporting large-scale transportation, tunnel, transit, rail, or public infrastructure programs preferred.
- Familiarity with PMIS platforms and project controls tools such as Primavera P6, e-Builder, Procore, Oracle, Unifier, Power BI, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of scheduling, cost controls, forecasting, reporting, and capital program management processes.
- Experience working within public-sector or agency-driven infrastructure environments highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, highly visible project environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
