About the role
The Project Controls Manager will support a Power Generation facility build, working with complex projects and programs related to the planning, design, and construction of electrical infrastructure. This role involves client-facing responsibilities and requires expertise in navigating the regulatory landscape and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Developing, monitoring, and maintaining engineering and construction project budgets for various sized transmission & distribution projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
- Using earned value management techniques to ensure forecasts and costs are aligned, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits
- Partnering closely with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables
- Developing and producing schedule weekly/monthly project control reports for client and internal management review, which includes resource loading analysis and schedules, critical path items, and risk analysis
- Interfacing directly with the client and internal management to report progress, schedule, and risks across a portfolio of electrical distribution projects
- Aiding the project manager in the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project dashboard reports and KPI tracking
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of capital project management/project controls experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field; additional relevant experience (minimum of 8 years) may be considered in lieu of degree
- Expert level knowledge of Primavera/P6 software
- Experience in capital utility projects within transmission, substation, and/or distribution design
- Demonstrated work history of planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks
- Capable of interacting with customer representatives in an effective manner; strong writing and verbal communication skills required
- PMP certification preferred
