Project Controls Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and control the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for the SMR program across all phases of the lifecycle—from design through plant startup—across multiple cross-functional departments, ensuring accurate predecessor/successor logic, proper sequencing of interdependent activities, and alignment across engineering, licensing, procurement, manufacturing, and construction.

Continuously update and manage the IMS based on actual progress, approved scope changes, and execution challenges, clearly identifying and communicating impacts to key milestones and critical paths while tracking schedule performance against baseline plans to manage risks and constraints.

Establish and enforce disciplined scheduling standards, including work breakdown structures (WBS), coding structures, calendars, logic development, and baseline control, to maintain realistic and executable plans that reflect actual engineering and field progress.

Perform schedule risk analysis, critical path analysis, forecasting, and scenario (“what-if”) analysis to address technical, regulatory, cost, and schedule risks, including identifying risks and constraints, conducting milestone confidence and sensitivity assessments, incorporating mitigation strategies into the IMS, and communicating overall risk exposure and confidence levels.

Cook up with Project Management and Finance to align control accounts, work packages, budgets, schedule activities, and audit requirements.

Prepare and present schedule status reports, dashboards, and executive-level briefings for internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Requirements

B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline

PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent project management or project controls certification

5+ years of experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, or work management on large, complex engineering or capital projects.

Proficiency in Primavera P6 for development and maintenance of integrated, logic-driven schedules

Strong time management, problem solving, and organizational skills with proven ability to manage conflicting priorities

Must be eligible to work under DOE 10CFR Part 810

Experience developing schedules spanning design, regulatory/licensing, procurement, fabrication, and construction phases.

Experience supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) through schedule development, integration, and performance analysis.

Experience supporting nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated DOE or government programs.

Familiarity with U.S. NRC licensing processes and regulatory milestone scheduling.
