Project Based Scheduler

About the Role

Position that will be under direct supervision of a senior scheduler and/or Project Manager to support large or small projects by performing scheduling responsibilities. The role involves assembling and analyzing project information, preparing documents to eliminate design discrepancies, and improving the efficient planning and scheduling of projects. Work requires applying planning, scheduling, and cost techniques, as well as evaluation, analysis, and modification of standards for problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed schedules with the project team and trade partners.
  • Monitor projects by setting schedules based on departmental procedures.
  • Input, analyze, and monitor design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules.
  • Develop internal and external reports describing project status.
  • Produce conceptual schedules with little or no input from the project team for debate and refinement.
  • Maintain a database of probable schedule durations by activities and overall durations.
  • Develop the baseline overall schedule using well-defined and properly sequenced work activities.
  • Assist with overseeing all project scheduling activities and provide required status updates, forecasts, and reports.
  • Develop project schedule layouts in conjunction with the project team, alternate schedules, and progress measurement of the schedule.
  • Review and critique Vendor and Subcontractor monthly updates to the schedule, verifying accuracy.
  • Understand the flow and logistics needed for project execution.
  • Support ongoing projects by working with the project manager and discipline leads on project status, identifying opportunities for improvement, delays, and areas requiring additional focus.
  • Recommend workaround plans to keep the project on track.

  • Adhere to safety responsibilities and expectations, including refusing unsafe work and reporting incidents, near hits, and hazards.
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations and participate in workplace inspections.
  • Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care, and participate in required training.
  • Assist with administering the site safety program and ensuring Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards, Yates Site Specific Requirements, and all applicable safety codes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager in support of successful project completion.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of previous industrial construction scheduling experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP cost management tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera 6.
  • Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred. Other relevant education, training, or work experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Five (5) years of previous industrial construction experience is required.

Physical Demands

The role may require walking, standing, operating tools/equipment, and lifting items (up to 25 lbs.). Tasks may be carried out in varying weather conditions and environments.
