Project Architect | Interiors – Technical Interior Designer

We are looking for a creative, passionate, and driven designer to work on mixed-use multi-family, adaptive reuse, aviation, commercial office and higher education projects in our Chicago office. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented and collaborative professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the oversight of a Project Manager and/or Principal. You will also lead and closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare technical drawings, studies, and other collateral related to interior design. Essential Skills/Attributes Interested candidate should have the following qualifications: Accredited professional degree in interior design or architecture5 – 15 years post-graduate, full-time working experience in a design or architectural firmNCIDQ Certificate Holder, Registered Interior Designer or Licensed Architect preferredA strong design sensibility and attention to detailExperience in residential and commercial office interiors is preferredThorough understanding of all project phases including programming, space planning, color and material selections, FF&E selections, schematic design, design development, and construction documentsCapable of performing all construction phase activities including review of shop drawings, material samples, responding to Contractor questions (RFI’s) and conducting site visitsWorking knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local building codes and accessibility requirementsAbility to lead a project including consultants and internal staffProficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and graphics software such as Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, and RhinoExcellent communication and presentation skills Primary Duties And Responsibilities Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phasesPrepare design details, technical drawings, and solutions to complex architectural and interdisciplinary problems and coordinate work with others on the project team and external consultantsExhibit a thorough working knowledge of innovative interior architectural finishes, including familiarity with manufacturers and performance standards to meet the client’s expectationsOrganize the work efforts of SCB’s project team on a day-to-day basis and function as the primary facilitator of communication between the in-house team, external consultants, and the clientCoordinate FF&E requirements in the technical drawings and specificationsEnsure that the design intent is clearly and accurately reflected in the technical drawings and specificationsLead team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teamsMentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner Compensation Salary: $70,000 – $120,000 depending on experienceWe support our teams with competitive, comprehensive benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, disability, paid holidays and time off, and 401K retirement matching.
