Project Architect
Contract to Hire position based in Grand Rapids, MI.
About the role
The Project Architect leads the design and delivery of complex architectural projects from concept through construction. This role requires strong knowledge of building systems, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, as well as proven experience in developing building designs, obtaining site plan approvals, and producing fully integrated construction documents. The Project Architect collaborates closely with clients, guides project teams, and ensures high-quality, well-coordinated outcomes with a strong focus on detail, communication, and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of architectural projects from concept through construction.
- Develop building designs and obtain site plan approvals.
- Produce fully integrated construction documents.
- Collaborate with clients and guide project teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Oversee construction documentation, bidding assistance, and construction administration.
- Manage architectural design and project management tasks with a focus on detail and coordination.
Requirements
- Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in architectural design.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in Revit for design and documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for production and coordination.
- Experience in construction documentation, bidding assistance, and construction administration.
- Demonstrated skills in architectural design and project management.
- Strong aptitude for design, construction detailing, and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and manage project teams.
- Strong work ethic and a high level of professional responsibility.
Qualifications
- Architectural license, or being within approximately one year of achieving licensure (preferred).
- Experience using SketchUp for conceptual and 3D design visualization (preferred).
- Experience working on retail or similar project types (preferred).
- Experience working on projects across multiple regions or states (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a niche market and adapt to unique client needs (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to a collaborative, family-oriented team culture (preferred).
Pay
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $55.29/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
