The Category Project Analyst will directly support the Sr. Category Manager of Cigarettes, and be primarily responsible for collecting, researching, and analyzing data to support the decision-making process.

Responsibilities

  • Support the on-going needs of the Cigarette Category Team, including assigned projects from Sr. Manager to scope and understand in advance any proposed program and/or contractual changes by vendors/manufacturers.
  • Interface directly with Operations and/or Field Merchandising leadership to solicit feedback regarding program or executional changes.
  • Track and work with category support/pricing/accounting to track and accelerate closure of open issues with manufacturers/operations raised issues.
  • Accountable to monthly accounting alignment and review to ensure category is on track towards P&L and budget goals.
  • Coordinates with Sr. Category Managers and Category Managers to understand pricing/promotion intent and appropriate KPIs/success measures to build verification reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, and with manufacturer analytics and insights teams to build robust, sustainable reporting and modeling to drive accurate, timely data driven decision making.
  • Develop and update Tobacco/OTP Pricing Models and reports to accommodate any contractual changes, Category Manager strategy shifts, or cost/retail changes.
  • Execute analysis to provide recommended retails to support external team functions such as New Item setup, Field Operation inquiries and Manufacturer partner retail & promo analysis.
  • Generates and distributes standard category performance reports, inclusive of deriving insights from such data/reporting and building/updating presentations for socialization.
  • Ad-hoc special projects directly related to the business unit, inclusive of modernization efforts which require collaboration with multiple departments, 3rd party groups, and manufacturers.

Qualifications

Position requires high school diploma plus 3 to 4 years' experience with heavy PC usage. Project Management/Analyst experience / College education is also strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity/Exposure to retail operations preferred.
  • Must have the ability to develop and adapt complex pricing models and reports using MS Excel.
  • Competency with both standard and custom Business Intelligence systems, such as Power BI.
  • Prior experience using Excel and Power Point strongly preferred.
