Project Advisor

About the role
We are seeking a motivated Project Advisor to contribute to our mission supporting our work at LBNF/DUNE in Batavia, IL. The position is remote-based with potential travel between Fermilab and Lead, SD site if required. The period of performance is October 1st, 2026 through September 30th, 2028, with total effort not exceeding 160 hours.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Project Director identifying actionable recommendations on the best path to success for the LBNF/DUNE Project.
- Provide additional comments to the Director as deemed appropriate to ensure success of the project.
- Serve as a member of the Project Advisory Committee at approximately 2 meetings a year.
- Give expert advice on management and risks to help optimize the project.
- Craft well-written and actionable reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 20+ years of related experience in project management and/or capital projects.
- 15+ years in nuclear and/or DOE related experience.
- Prior experience supporting Office of Science related capital projects.
- Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (marijuana use prohibited under Federal Law).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as Federal Project Director.
