Project Accountant

Overview: The Project Accountant will provide accounting and project management support for the Construction and Development teams from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate cost tracking, compliance with internal controls, and timely reporting to support project management and senior leadership. The position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented. Responsibilities Manage AIA billing processes in collaboration with the construction teamSet up and track project costs across multiple entities and job phases, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and contractsMonitor project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and actual costsCoordinate with construction and development teams to ensure timely approval of payables and contracts within the accounting systemPrepare and analyze monthly job cost reports and variance analyses for project managersMonitor project costs, profitability, and financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior managementPrepare and submit monthly lender draw packages, including supporting schedules and backup documentationTrack Lender Draw funding timelines; ensure timely receipt of funds and distribution to vendorsReview and process all project vendor invoices; verify proper coding, supporting documentation, contract compliance, and lien waiver submissionsReview and approve project budgets, change orders, and financial forecastsMaintain all project vendor contacts and payment instructions in accounting systemSupport month-end close, including journal entries, project related accruals, and bank reconciliationsSupport the preparation of WIP schedules, loan reconciliations and amortization schedules, and development reporting packagesMaintain and make recommendations for improvements to internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policiesAssist in the administrative, organizational, or ad hoc duties as they relate to the construction and development team as needed
