About the role
The Programmer will be a hands-on, technical member of the Student Administration Systems team responsible for implementing and maintaining software systems and interfaces to various student information systems including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. This is an internal customer-facing role, requiring excellent prioritization, responsiveness, highly technical skills, and strong verbal communication. The incumbent develops and maintains positive working relationships with both internal and external constituents, providing services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. The role is classified as Software Developer II and is a 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week position within the Enrollment Services Student Systems department.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily technical support for users of the Student Administration systems including (but not limited to): CMS PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, DocOrigin, and CSLink based reports. Work closely with functional counterparts to quickly identify and resolve production problems.
- Perform analysis, detailed program specification, programming, testing, and documentation to expand the functional scope of the Student Administration systems to meet the business needs of the university.
- Design and implement procedures, software programs, reports, utilities, and documentation to support customer-focused delivery of business data.
- Collaborate with Systems and functional teams on Student Administration systems related enhancements and workflows. Assist project teams with gathering functional requirements, design, implementation, training, and ongoing support.
- Provide support for third-party systems and applications related to Student Administration processing.
- Perform administrative aspects of development, testing, and documentation in accordance with campus and CMS Central policies. Maintain detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Management, or similar field.
- Two years of related experience.
- High level of proficiency in ERP systems, preferably with experience in PeopleSoft tools, technologies, and programming languages including SQL, SQR, App Engine, Application Designer, PeopleCode, PeopleTools, and debugging within a multi-tier distributed architecture.
- Experience supporting PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Student Administration modules.
- Working knowledge of the UNIX environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and support peripheral Student Administration applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including strong listening skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and functional teams and share knowledge with peers.

Pay
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- Hiring Range: $6,492 (Step 1) - $7,759 (Step 10) per month.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,492 (Step 1) - $9,458 (Step 20) per month.
