Position Summary
At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch, Program Therapists are integral members of the interdisciplinary care team, providing evidence-based interventions to support the mental health and well-being of youth facing emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, engaging with families, and ensuring compliance with external requirements.
Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy in school/community/home settings.
- Mentally assesses youth in these settings and documents services provided.
- Encourages and engages parents/guardians/caregivers in interactions.
- Engages in crisis intervention while maintaining staff and youth safety.
- Completes and verifies paperwork for all services, adhering to PQI standards.
- Maintains effective working relationships with treatment team members and stakeholders.
- Attends and participates in treatment team and staff meetings.
- Participates in peer supervision and consultations with schools and CST/IEP meetings.
- Coordinates services with community agencies and collaborates with other providers.
- Maintains knowledge of Montana Medicaid and YBGR's Mental Health Center Licensure rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Age 21 or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass required background checks.
- Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field from an accredited university (60 credit hour program).
- Licenses: Program Therapist 1 - Current Montana SWLC, PCLC, or MFLC; Program Therapist 2 - Current Montana LCSW, PCLC, or MFTL.
- Licenses to operate a passenger vehicle.
Required Abilities/Skills
- Ability to relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically.
- Collaboration and cooperation with the treatment team.
- Adherence to ethical codes including The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Worker Code, and The American Psychological Association Code.
- Continuous skill enhancement and maintenance of professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of behavior modification and age-appropriate youth development.
- Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use YBGR-selected software solutions.
