About the Role

The Program Technician (PT) II position involves processing complex program specialist work under general supervision. Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and processing detailed and technical forms, files, or documents associated with multiple departmental programs or requiring specialized program knowledge.
• Performing difficult calculations or processing tasks where guidelines are unclear.
• Providing sensitive and detailed program information or direction to the public, employees, employers, medical providers, other public jurisdictions, or clients.
• Identifying and reporting suspected fraudulent claims or activities to management.
• Performing specialized work or projects as assigned.
• Demonstrating awareness of the Department and Branch vision, mission, values, and goals.

For less complex work, the Program Technician (PT) I role is also available under close supervision, focusing on semi-technical forms and files associated with a specialized departmental program.

This position is located in Orange County.

Requirements

• Current or eligible for list eligibility (e.g., lateral transfer, reinstatement, LEAP, SROA, or Surplus eligibility). SROA and Surplus candidates receive priority.
• Must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification for Program Technician II or Program Technician I.
• Completion of the State Examination/Employment Application (STD 678) is required. Resumes or cover letters do not substitute for the application.
• A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.
• Transcripts or diplomas may be required to meet minimum qualifications.

Pay

• Program Technician II: $3,833.00 - $4,804.00 per month. New hires start at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range.
• Program Technician I (if considered): $3,316.00 - $4,456.00 per month.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction of 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

• Work Shift: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
• Work Week: Monday - Friday.
• Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.
