About SER YOUTHBUILD Learning Academy
SER YOUTHBUILD Learning Academy is a charter high school for youth ages 14-21. Its model combines classroom instruction by a certified teacher with enabling students to learn a trade while in school, providing learners with the knowledge, skills, and self-discipline necessary to become successful citizens in a global society. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aid with student intake, data collection, and documentation of student records.
- Responsible for data entry, filing, copying, and scheduling of intakes for students.
- Provide general administrative support such as filing, typing documents, and organizing information.
- Support customer interactions and follow-up calls for school enrollees.
- Assist school administrators and teachers with necessary clerical responsibilities.
- Work closely with the facility management team on record compilation for annual inspections.
- Contribute to the collection and preparation of data relative to the work of the department.
- Show interest and concern for all youth services customers, treating them with respect and care.
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Notify immediately appropriate personnel and agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide, or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
- Attend required meetings and trainings as required by School Administration, SER Management, or School Board.
- Contribute to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- One to two years’ experience in a customer service environment.
- Computer skills necessary to utilize word processing and spreadsheet software applications.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, participants, and partner agencies.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Mental ability to handle pressures related to performing multiple tasks requiring concentration and attention to detail and dealing with multiple individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of need.
- Physical ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks as well as possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to interact with students, parents, and staff in a positive and productive manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Willingness to possess a valid Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Completion of FBI fingerprinting and a satisfactory criminal background check.

- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.

- This job operates in a normal school environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.
