Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports and promotes the mission of the Agency: Foothill Family empowers children and families on their journey to achieve personal success.
- Implements and monitors contract requirements and regulations required by the funder, agency, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Functions as a part of the 0 to 5/Early Head Start Management team to provide leadership to all program staff, strategically plan for program sustainability and ensure coordination of daily operations.
- Develops, implements, and oversees coaching and mentoring for students, interns, and volunteers in Early Childhood appropriate to their capacities, roles, and professional development goals.
- Recruits and retains eligible students for the Pathways to Professions Program from Early Head Start, Foothill Family Programs, and external partners.
- Develops and maintains internal and external internship placements for students and builds memorandums of understanding with placements.
- Collaborates regularly with academic and workforce development partners to ensure quality coursework, updated contracts, and sustainable resources.
- Conducts document reviews, observations and other Quality Assurance activities and gives feedback to apprentices, interns and volunteers for skills development.
- Connects workforce development participants with volunteer and internship experiences and liaises with each placement to monitor the student’s progress.
- Works with the Early Childhood Team to ensure that students receive feedback on the quality and effectiveness of Child Development or other Early Childhood Education coursework, including the completion of required observations and verification visits depending on the academic track/program.
- Gathers, analyzes, and reports on outcomes to meet the goals and objectives of the Pathways to Professions Program.
- Provides services relating to the administration of public funds or benefits, including eligibility for public funds or public benefits.
- Ensures that documentation meets agency and program standards for content and timelines.
- Supports Agency policies, the smooth functioning and communication within the agency.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other agency staff, collaborating when appropriate.
- Models ethical and professional behavior.
- Travels between Foothill Family and Child Care Partner sites for training, meetings, and other in-person interactions.
- Attends in-person meetings and events at various locations within the Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
- Displays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomics characteristics.
- Works in a safe manner at all times and ensures employees are abiding by safety practices; takes action when employees put themselves or others at risk.
- Follows all policies, procedures and legal mandates including HIPAA, client confidentiality, protected health information (PHI) and client files.
- Ensures performance and behaviors support the Agency’s performance quality improvement (PQI) goals and objectives.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Two or more years of experience with program start-up, implementation, and collaboration with community partners.
- Two or more years of supervisory and/or mentor/coaching experience with students.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or equivalent field.
- Demonstrated competency in training, mentoring, and coaching others towards excellence and capacity building.
- Exhibits leadership, initiative, flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Able to work with a team and adapt to the changes and challenges of implementing a new program.
- Able to be an excellent representative of the Agency to the community.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to read and write complex material.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate harmoniously with staff and clients of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid CA Driver’s License and maintains insurability on the Agency’s auto liability policy (including a minimum of 2 years driving experience) and maintains the California state required personal auto insurance liability limits OR maintains reliable transportation to attend all appointments and meetings as required in the position.
- Bilingual Spanish and/or Cantonese preferred.
