About the Role

Under the general direction of the Department Director and/or designee, this position is responsible for supporting Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the Supporting Innovative Practices Grant (SIP) to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The Program Specialist will support LEAs including schools, districts, charter schools, and local, regional, and statewide partners in their endeavor to provide quality services and programs to students with disabilities. This position requires travel to different regions of the State, including trips that involve multiple overnight stays.

Work location varies depending on the geographic assignment hired for. Home office required. Employee may be required at times to work at the EDCOE main campus or an alternative location designated by the employer. Residency within reasonable proximity to assigned sites is required. Positions are available in the South Bay Area, Central Coast, or Central Valley (Fresno/Bakersfield) regions. This position is funded through the SIP Grant, currently authorized through 2033.

Responsibilities

• Support Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in implementing the Supporting Innovative Practices Grant (SIP) to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with schools, districts, charter schools, and local, regional, and statewide partners to enhance services and programs for students with disabilities.
• Travel to various regions of the State, including overnight stays, as part of the role.

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an educational setting in programs that may include special education or general education.
• Administrative experience preferred.
• Valid Special Education Credential, Pupil Personnel Services Credential, California Administrative Services Credential, or Master’s Degree in education or related field with a valid California credential.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Residency within reasonable proximity to assigned sites in the South Bay Area, Central Coast, or Central Valley (Fresno/Bakersfield) regions.

Pay

Salary range: $119,303 - $145,012 annually, based on education and experience.

Schedule

• 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• 210 days per year, 12 months per year.
• Full-time employment.
