About the Role

Under the general direction of the Department Director and/or designee, this position is responsible for supporting Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the Supporting Innovative Practices Grant (SIP) to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The Program Specialist will support LEAs including schools, districts, charter schools, and local, regional, and statewide partners in their endeavor to provide quality services and programs to students with disabilities. This position requires travel to different regions of the State, including trips that involve multiple overnight stays.

This position is funded through the SIP Grant, which is currently authorized through 2032.

Responsibilities

• Support Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in implementing the Supporting Innovative Practices Grant (SIP) to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with schools, districts, charter schools, and local, regional, and statewide partners to provide quality services and programs to students with disabilities.
• Travel to different regions of the State, including trips requiring multiple overnight stays.

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an educational setting in programs that may include special education or general education.
• Administrative experience preferred.
• Residency within reasonable proximity to assigned sites in Northern California: South Bay/East Bay/Central Coast regions.
• Home office required; may be required to work at the EDCOE main campus or an alternative location designated by the employer.

Qualifications

• Valid Special Education Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential or California Administrative Services Credential or Master’s Degree in education or related field with a valid California credential.
• Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $119,303 - $145,012 annually, based on education and experience.

Schedule

• 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• 210 days per year, 12 months per year.
• Full-time employment.
