The Role
The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program at AgeOptions is a statewide initiative aimed at empowering Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud and abuse. As a Senior Medicare Patrol Officer, you will play a crucial role in educating the public and combating fraud through various means.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate outreach and presentations in suburban Cook County, including site selection, event attendance, and presentation delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other community stakeholders to foster long-term collaborations and build a robust SMP resource network.
- Provide consultation and technical support to partner subgrantees on outreach strategies, volunteer recruitment, and data management.
- Answer calls for the dedicated statewide Medicare fraud hotline and assist clients and their caregivers.
- Track and report on outreach activities, documenting successes and sharing client stories.
Requirements
- A collaborator with at least 4 years of experience in a social services organization or public benefits work.
- Experience working with older adults or caregivers is a plus.
- A relationship builder with experience in conducting outreach and organizing events with community organizations, health care providers, and community groups.
- A communicator skilled in developing and facilitating formal presentations.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
