About the role
The Meloy Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program Specialist II supports the Meloy Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (MEIEP), a key component of the Texas A&M Engineering department. The role involves planning, developing, and implementing various program offerings, supervising staff and student workers, and managing logistics for events.
Responsibilities
- Supervise two entry-level staff members, including coordination of position specification posting, candidate screening, and hiring.
- Supervise up to six student workers, undergraduate and graduate, to support MEIEP activities.
- Coordinate programs such as Aggies Invent, Invent for the Planet, Problems Worth Solving, Engineering Inc., NSF i-Corps Site, Meloy Fellows, Meloy Innovators, Meloy Speaker Series, Boss Talk, and student pitch competitions, both on and off campus.
- Manage logistics for conferences, seminars, meetings, and workshops for MEIEP faculty, staff, mentors, judges, and guest speakers.
- Serve as primary Point of Contact for MEIEP in working with Zachry Facilities, IT, Scheduling, MarComm, and the EASA Business Office.
- Administer the Concept, Creation, and Commercialization Certificate and the Engineering Entrepreneurship Minor offered by MEIEP.
- Provide logistical support for all curricular activities within MEIEP.
- Prepare, track, and provide management reports related to the Program and event budgets, working closely with the EASA Business Office personnel.
- Cover all vendor ordering and communications related to MEIEP promotional materials.
- Maintain Program records and databases.
- Support travel reservations and purchases for Program faculty, staff, and guests.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
What is helpful
- Significant experience with similar entity’s administration and coordination of activities.
- Significant experience supervising multiple personnel, preparing and monitoring budgets, event planning and coordination, serving as liaison between internal stakeholder groups, and communicating with guests, visitors, and students.
Skills and Abilities
- Be proficient in typical office software programs related to work processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
- Demonstrate a collaborative work style.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a good leader for those junior-level employees reporting to them.
Other Requirements
- Will be expected to work one weekend per month.
- Must handle the stress of multi-tasking in a sometimes busy, chaotic environment.
- Must work well with Program faculty members.
- Must manage the multi-modal (in-person and virtual) workplace.
