Program Specialist, Community Health
About the role
This role supports the Health Access and Engagement Program Specialist in embedding and integrating enterprise or division strategies and programs. Responsibilities include researching materials and methods, reviewing and/or drafting related policies, collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise, project management, communication and content development, and coordination of program activities. This position may support programs such as Workforce Engagement, Community Health, Inclusive Engagement, Education and Talent, and/or Health Access. Reporting structure may vary depending on program focus, potentially aligning with the Office of Health Access and Engagement, Community Health, or Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field preferred; in lieu of degree, a minimum of three (3) years of commensurate experience is required.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, Healthcare, Community Health, Communication, or related field.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with ability to present effectively to audiences at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously in an organized manner.
- Ability to collaborate and work successfully across all levels of the organization, affiliated partners, and community representatives.
- High level of credibility, accountability for outcomes, and ability to build trusting relationships quickly.
- Strong analytical competency, consulting and negotiation skills, and business acumen.
- Ability to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, develop reporting, and communicate compelling stories to inform decisions and strategy recommendations.
Principal Accountabilities
- Facilitate program awareness internally and externally on behalf of Memorial Hermann Health System.
- Serve as a project lead, change agent, and facilitator for key initiatives supporting Health Access and Engagement, Human Resources, Community Health, and other associated programs.
- Plan, organize, and execute key activities in coordination with division leadership.
- Review and/or develop communication plans related to aligned initiatives in collaboration with Internal Communications and Marketing team members.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to solicit feedback on system priorities supporting strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate feedback on program effectiveness and support development and deployment of solutions to enhance programs.
- Conduct ongoing research on aligned best practices and share findings with team members and stakeholders for program enhancements.
- Provide planning, organizing, and execution support to ensure program deadlines and milestones are met.
- Analyze system policies, procedures, and practices to assess strategy performance and impact; recommend changes aligned with business strategies.
- Utilize data from multiple databases/systems to produce summaries and detailed reporting for key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Generate ad hoc reports to assist in responding to business inquiries efficiently and thoroughly.
- Keep stakeholders informed with detailed and accurate reports and presentations as needed.
- Partner with key vendors and internal/external community partners to cultivate relationships, identify opportunities, and implement action plans.
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals contributing to organizational success; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in volunteer program management
