Program Specialist
UMSON seeks a Program Specialist to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, serving nearly 600 students across multiple campuses and program options.
About the role
The DNP Program Specialist supports the Associate Dean for the DNP program and collaborates with the Senior Director and Post-Master’s Specialty Director to manage committee and event logistics, meeting documentation, admissions support, data tracking, and communications. This role ensures seamless delivery and oversight of program operations, including graduation certification, orientation, and stakeholder meetings.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Associate Dean for the DNP Program in managing the DNP program, including supporting students and faculty members.
- Contribute to projects requiring monitoring and evaluation.
- Oversee daily operations, organize program activities, and help set priorities under guidance from the Associate Dean.
- Provide routine and non-routine technical support, problem-solving assistance, and answer questions from students and faculty.
- Interpret program goals and policies and provide administrative support.
- Assist in conceptualization, development, and preparation of written products such as training materials, website content, final progress reports, and promotional materials.
- Recommend resources for program improvement.
- Organize and lead workshops, events, or meetings: manage logistics, scheduling, and communication with participants.
- Assist in evaluating program effectiveness, devise evaluation methodology, analyze results, and recommend or take appropriate action.
- Formulate, affect, interpret, or implement policies or procedures to ensure effective program operation.
- Develop and maintain internet web site files and/or listings.
- Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies to facilitate program objectives.
- Manage electronic file records of students’ progression and other program-associated files using academic applications.
- Serve as primary contact and think critically to resolve questions and make decisions related to the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of administrative or program coordination experience.
- Experience in higher education or healthcare setting preferred.
- Related experience may substitute for education.
- Ability to prepare financial statements and budgets.

Pay
$60,000 - $70,035, commensurate with education and experience.
All employees are expected to work primarily within the State of Maryland.
