Program Specialist
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a Program Specialist III to join our team in the Office of Employer Engagement and Community Outreach. Located in Austin, this position serves businesses, colleges, non-profits, and other workforce development stakeholders across multiple counties.
About the role
This role requires 35% travel and involves performing complex consultative services and technical assistance work. You will work under general supervision but have significant latitude to use initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures in a public or private agency.
- Manage projects within a business, economic development organization, chamber of commerce, state agency, workforce development board, or community college environment.
- Prepare presentations, conduct public speaking engagements, and develop marketing materials.
- Develop and manage grants and participate in grant reviews.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, colleges, non-profits, and other workforce development stakeholders.
- Identify and address workforce development needs while being flexible and adaptable to new challenges and opportunities.
Requirements
- One year and six months of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
Qualifications
- Project management experience within a business, economic development organization, chamber of commerce, state agency, workforce development board, or community college environment.
- Experience with presentation preparation, public speaking, sales, marketing, outreach techniques, and public relations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
