About the Role

The Older Adult Center at BronxWorks is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with older adults and a passion for supporting their well-being through various programs and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a diverse calendar of programs including educational workshops, fitness classes, arts and crafts, cultural events, and social activities.
  • Cookday-to-day program operations and logistics (e.g., workshops, activities, outreach).
  • Onboard new participants, ensure eligibility documentation is complete, and provide ongoing assistance.
  • Absorb participant’s registration and annual update of member files.
  • Track and report data on program participation, client outcomes, and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to enhance program offerings.
  • Facilitate daily activities and provide hands-on support during events.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, program evaluations, and supply inventories.
  • Assist with outreach efforts to increase participation and community awareness.
  • Serve as a liaison between the program and other internal departments or external agencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of bulletin boards to reflect monthly calendar of activities, and current holidays and activities.
  • Maintain an accurate activities log.
  • Conduct Customer Surveys of Programming and food service and use feedback for program improvements.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field of study or some college work completed.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with older adults in a community- or recreational setting.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of gaining issues, elder rights, entitlement program, and local community resources.
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.

  • Ability to plan and lead group activities.
  • Knowledge of gaining-related issues and community resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of aging-related issues and available community resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity toward diverse senior populations.
  • Experience using databases or client management systems (e.g. PeerPlace, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to generate reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Comfortable with virtual meeting platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to support wellness, nutrition, and social programs.
  • Skilled in tracking participation and preparing program materials.
  • Experience coordinating events, workshops, or group activities.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $X-$Y per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Exact pay will be determined based on a competitive market analysis and individual qualifications.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is flexible and can accommodate the needs of the candidate and the organization. The typical work week is 40 hours, but may vary based on the specific role and responsibilities.
