About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Program Quality Engineer (PQE) for its Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) Production Program. The APKWS Production Program handles over $250M in annual sales and operates from a factory in Hudson, NH.
Responsibilities
- Support various efforts across Proposal, Design, Production, Services, and Sustainment phases of the program.
- Second source initiatives to ensure supply chain resilience and cost optimization.
- Utilize expertise in Quality to ensure compliance, drive process improvements, lead root cause corrective actions, and guide business decisions with data.
- Engage across all levels of the organization to build effective relationships.
- Review and evaluate mechanical designs, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices.
- Ensure designs meet functional requirements and manufacturing capabilities using key GD&T engineering checking techniques.
- Provide notations and feedback to team members to correct designs and reference materials.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify design issues and offer guidance and expertise to improve overall engineering processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing and supply chain, to integrate quality into the design process.
- Investigate design-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
- Participate in the qualification and validation of secondary sources, ensuring designs are adaptable to alternative manufacturing processes and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of design reviews, test results, and quality assurance activities for future reference and audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field and 0-4+ years of engineering experience or 6-8+ years of engineering experience.
- Knowledge/experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Knowledge/experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, FTA).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Master's Degree.
- Experience with AS9100, PPV/AS9102 FAI, and AS9145/PPAP.
- Green Belt/Black Belt Certified.
- Experience as a Quality Engineer, with a focus on design quality or development program in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with a Quality Improvement Program (Zero Defect, Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, etc.).
- Experience with supplier qualification processes, including audits and source inspections.
- Ability to devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data.
- Experience conducting and documenting internal audits and other quality assurance activities.
- Secret Clearance or ability to attain.
- Experience using Quality Databases.
- Plan, conduct, and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,365 - $134,921. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
