About the Role

Assists in providing patient care, including patient evaluations and health screenings. Supports the Medical Director by performing intake, discharge, and administrative procedures while communicating effectively with nursing staff, counselors, and the Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations of all patients upon admission, including annual and health examinations, and review admissions-related laboratory results with patients.
  • Conduct examinations in accordance with state rules and regulations for medically monitored treatment programs/facilities.
  • Issue patient medication change orders and verbal orders as applicable to state rules and regulations.
  • Complete readmission and annual physical examinations for all patients.
  • Be available to staff for emergency management of patient care.
  • Refer patients to primary care providers for medical conditions other than narcotic addiction.
  • Train and supervise nursing staff regarding changes in medication dosage via verbal or written orders.
  • Provide reports as requested.
  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings with counselors or document in the patient record as an alternative.
  • Label medication bottles in the absence of the Pharmacist.
  • Work under the direction of a medical doctor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor license in the state where the clinic is located.
  • Physician License in the state of SC (or applicable state).
  • DEA registration with 2, 2N, 3, 4, & 5 scheduling.
  • Credentialed through Medicaid/Medicare.

Qualifications

  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft products (Outlook, Office), Google Suite, and Call Center hardware/software.
  • Preferred: 1 year of EMR experience.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in the field of Substance Abuse.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be dependable, reliable, and flexible.
