Description Head Start has an opening for a non-exempt full-time Program Nurse working 35 hours per week.

About the role

Responsible for planning, producing, coordinating, and monitoring the functions necessary to ensure a comprehensive health, dental, and mental health program that is in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations. This includes training staff to perform duties related to Health, Dental Health, and Mental Health in the Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedure Manual, Head Start Program Performance Standards and Indiana Daycare Licensing Requirements. Follow Indiana Daycare Center licensing requirements and ensure all children have a physical/immunizations and results finding on file. Monitor, update, and ensure all records are up to date. Organize clinics with providers to obtain dentals, immunizations, and well child exams including lead and hemoglobulin results. Conduct health-related support and training for staff and families with on-going health, mental health, and dental care activities.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a current Indiana license or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related Health field such as Public Health, Maternal and Child health, or Health Education with a CNA required.
  • Experience with young children aged birth to 5 is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related work experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • This position will require you to become a certified Pediatric CPR/First Aid Instructor, Lactation Specialist, Car Seat Technician, and Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Associate Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Must meet Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical and complete an annual T.B. test.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Indiana Daycare Licensing Requirements.
  • Ability to train staff in Health, Dental Health, and Mental Health.
  • Experience with young children aged birth to 5.
  • Experience with Indiana Daycare Center licensing requirements.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.

Schedule

The Program Nurse works 35 hours per week.
