About the Role

Responsible for managing large-scale, enterprise-wide programs with multiple projects and work streams. Programs involve delivery of critical strategic business capabilities or regulatory changes that impact multiple business units or disciplines. This role aligns resources, oversees the budget, creates project plans, and tracks key milestones, risks, and dependencies to ensure implementation of critical business capabilities or regulatory change.

Responsibilities

• Focus on execution of programs delivering strategic changes, expansion of critical business capabilities, or implementation of cross-business-unit regulatory change.
• Manage implementation of complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.
• Lead a variety of projects, providing solid leadership, planning, execution, governance, and direction.
• Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with all necessary parts of the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
• Develop, implement, and administer programs with a focus on flawless project execution.
• Facilitate cross-discipline coordination for decision-making regarding scope, prioritization, and issue resolution.
• Manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Oversee development of business cases and project documentation, escalating items proactively.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills across initiatives impacting all facets of the business (e.g., front-office, middle-office, operations, IT, Risk, Legal, Compliance).
• Communicate program objectives, risks, issues, and overall status to multiple levels of the organization.
• Display strong attention to detail while managing programs, including preparation for key meetings.
• Demonstrate understanding of budgetary and resource impact to projects and actively manage/resolve issues.
• Display an appropriate sense of urgency and understanding of inherent project risk.
• Proactively identify potential strategic or execution risks/issues and track them to closure.
• Partner with key stakeholders to define success metrics and measure progress against them.
• Assess and develop the skills of staff using people management skills.
• Drive execution without direct reporting line responsibilities using teamwork skills.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical, consultative, communication (oral and written), and judgment skills.
• Ability to excel in ambiguity and see the big picture while drilling down into details.
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Motivated, self-driven individual with strong time management skills.
• Operates independently but executes projects in partnership with key stakeholders.
• Leadership and organizational skills to determine program goals, structure, budget, and resource needs.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

Qualifications

• 12+ years of program/project management expertise.
• A college or university degree is preferred.
• Related industry knowledge is preferred.

Pay

Salary range is $114,700 - $194,900 USD. Northern Trust provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
