About the role

Eversource is seeking a Program Manager, Strategic Project Development based out of the Westwood, MA office. The role contributes to the advancement of major and strategic projects within the Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) through cross-functional leadership and execution of the Capital Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a cross-functional project team including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Project Management, Engagement, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to establish and organize ongoing development plans.
  • Ensure all strategic solutions are vetted in compliance with the Company's safety and procurement policies and programs.
  • Work with relevant departments to develop schedules and budgets for ESMP strategic projects in their early stages and implement these plans before full execution.
  • Support the development and documentation of Company policies related to the development and execution of strategic transmission projects, covering topics such as feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, and construction.
  • Facilitate internal and external collaboration to advance strategic transmission projects.
  • Maintain awareness of current and upcoming policies and programs that can facilitate transmission development.
  • Collaborate with the Manager/Director to establish metrics for evaluating the success of transmission projects and tracking progress.
  • Represent Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, and other efforts related to strategic projects.
  • Assist with representing Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings, and other special meetings.
  • Brief the Manager and Director of Strategic Project Development regularly on the status of strategic project development and action items.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to develop and present reports within the organization.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple subject matters, such as permitting, engineering, real estate, interconnection, finance, community engagement.
  • Understanding of onshore development of electric infrastructure projects, such as solar or wind.
  • Ability to take in multidisciplinary pieces of early-stage project development and make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated interest in ongoing learning and process improvement.
  • Interest in progressing the State’s electrification efforts in support of Massachusetts' clean energy and climate goals.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, environmental, communication, renewable energy), business discipline, or equivalent experience is required. A master’s degree, law degree, or other advanced qualifications is desirable.
