Responsibilities
- Provides oversight of the departmental academic mission, including management of the residency coordinator, medical student (UME) coordinator and administrative support staff.
- Serves as director for Educational Development for Radiology, including: 1) curriculum design and alignment with ACGME, ABR, and institutional requirements, 2) program, resident, and faculty evaluations, 3) recruitment support and onboarding processes.
- Facilitates and manages faculty recruitment/hiring process.
- Advises the Chair on rules and procedures related to promotion and tenure of faculty and meets the College of Medicine, Knoxville submission deadlines.
- Works with faculty to align Radiology curricula with board certification and accreditation standards.
- Collaborates with the Department Chair, Program Director, and Associate Program Directors to ensure compliance with guidelines from ACGME, ABR, institutional, and departmental requirements while supporting excellence in resident education, faculty development, recruitment, and program operations.
- Coordinates and manages all required reporting and statistical data for the Radiology program, including submissions to the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and the ACGME.
- Captures and manages multiple Radiology education budget accounts, including departmental and gift funds.
- Develops, prepares, and monitors the annual education budget; prepares monthly budget reports and variance summaries.
- Manages departmental activities related to GME accreditation and institutional compliance; analyzes program effectiveness and facilitates continuous improvement.
- Oversees yearly rental contract, insurance, utilities, and operating supplies for Nashville apartment.
- Processes all invoices for payment and petty cash reimbursement.
- Provides supervision for radiology administrative staff, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and completion of annual performance evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
- EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in an office setting; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Strong management skills. Ability to act independently and administratively on behalf of the Department of Radiology and the Chairman in non-routine areas of responsibility. Skill in managing multiple diverse projects/deadlines efficiently. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills for working effectively with staff, residents, faculty, administration, GME Office and affiliates in the community and national governing bodies/organizations. Ability to manage highly confidential information. Computer expertise.
