About the role

The Crisis Residential Unit Program Manager works under the leadership of the Senior Director of Community Integration Services. This role provides supervisory work with the daily operations and activities of the Crisis Residential Unit program, focusing on returning individuals to their pre-crisis level of functioning through skills training, medication, and symptom management.

Responsibilities

  • Documents all services provided to a client or on behalf of a client in a progress note in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Conducts therapy and/or skills training groups at the residential facility as needed.
  • Revises skills training curriculum as needed to ensure effectiveness of treatment.
  • Ensures the provision of the initial psychosocial assessment for all new admissions to the residential facility.
  • Reviews CARE plan for each individual enrolled in the residential facility and ensures programing to meet the needs of each individual.
  • Collaborates with QMHP-CS to develop appropriate discharge plan for each crisis Residential client.
  • Coordinates after-hours emergency CRU admission LPHA assessments as needed.
  • Acts as the main contact for CRU referrals and coordination and/or completing of LPHA intake approval assessments during business hours.
  • Reviews program design development and proposes changes to improve service delivery.
  • Reviews progress notes, recovery plans, assessments, and other documentation to ensure accurate completion within required time frames.
  • Completes monthly and quarterly monitoring reports as determined by the Senior Director.
  • Creates and maintains a positive work environment.
  • Establish and maintain open communication, clarity of expectations, and support with the crisis team, and Center staff.
  • Provides problem resolution by use of supervisory conferences and work plans reflecting growth and development.
  • Informs Senior Director of team needs.
  • Addresses all performance issues with employees according to Center procedures, in a timely manner and in a way that fosters employee growth and self-awareness.
  • Is responsible for building and maintaining awareness of staff schedules at all times.
  • Ensures all on call shifts are covered in a timely manner. Is responsible for emergency coverage in the event no coverage is found for a work shift.
  • Reports any issues with contracted staff/entities to the Senior Director as soon as possible.
  • Supervises self-administration of medication as needed.
  • Participates in activities to enhance Center services and improve community understanding and acceptance of Crisis Residential Services.
  • Participates in inter- and intra-agency departmental committees as requested.
  • Supports individuals experiencing a crisis by promptly connecting them with appropriate Center programs, such as the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), Psychiatric Triage, Crisis Prevention services, and/or other applicable resources.
  • Ensures seamless coordination to facilitate timely intervention.
  • Remains with individuals, when deemed safe, to provide support and maintain a calm environment until specialized crisis staff or emergency personnel arrive to take over intervention efforts.
  • Adheres to safety protocols to prevent escalation of the crisis situation.
  • Participates in debriefing sessions with the immediate supervisor or designated staff following a crisis event.
  • Collaborate with the team to review the incident, identify lessons learned, and ensure all HHSC guidelines and Center policies are followed.

Requirements

A master's degree in behavioral sciences, social sciences, humanities, or a related field and one (1) year prior experience in a mental health field. Licensure to qualify as a LPHA (Licensed Professional of Healing Arts). Prior experience working in crisis situations preferred.

Qualifications

Active license through the state of Texas as a: Licensed Professional of Healing Arts. Must have and maintain a background and criminal history free from any disqualifying offenses as outlined by the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Successful completion of all position-specific training within thirty (30) days of employment is required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of techniques used in planning and supervising recreational and social activities in a residential rehabilitation setting, of mental health problems, growth, and development;
  • Knowledge and background in mental health services;
  • Skills in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and in operating computers and applicable software;
  • Ability to facilitate productive interaction between residents and staff, to assess residents' functional levels, to conduct investigations, to manage and account for facility resources, and to assign and/or supervise work of others;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;
  • Moderate mathematics skills;
  • Proficient reading, writing, interpersonal relations and communicative skills;
  • Ability to write effective case management notes;
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations;
  • Highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people and must demonstrate communication, organizational, administrative and office managerial skills;
  • Flexibility to manage changing priorities and navigate complex regulatory environments successfully;
  • Capacity to motivate, lead, and empower team members to achieve program and organizational goals;
  • Ability to display regular and reliable (in-person, if required) attendance;
  • Understanding and practice of Trauma Informed Care principles.
