Description

Spohn Hospital Alice, built in 1999, serves the healthcare needs of Alice and surrounding communities. It is a Level IV Trauma Center with 186 licensed beds offering comprehensive medical and surgical services including pediatrics, obstetrics, skilled nursing, emergency and intensive care, and cardiac services.

About the Role

Develops and leads nursing neonatal initiatives for the CHRISTUS location. Works with the Neonatal Medical Director to oversee neonatal practice and collaborates with regional clinical leaders through the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) to develop and implement clinical strategies, policies, and practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintains compliance with benchmarks and standards for neonatal functions and the facility's Neonatal Program Plan.
• Supports and directs ministries to ensure corrective action when performance indicators are not meeting targets.
• Identifies and develops evidence-based neonatal nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Monitors progress and manages approved deviations from strategic plans.
• Manages resource forecasting for business and financial resources, identifying gaps and developing strategies to address them.
• Provides leadership and training to ensure team members are focused, committed, and capable of achieving expected results.
• Establishes and implements System policies, procedures, and standards.
• Communicates effectively to staff to facilitate understanding, ownership, and accomplishment of goals and objectives.
• Establishes and monitors department quality objectives, milestones, and benchmarks.
• Develops and implements tools to measure performance against standards and documents project status.
• Ledges in the establishment of departmental programs promoting exceptional neonatal care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Experience in neonatal nursing for 5+ years, with experience leading unit/facility initiatives preferred.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of employment or compact required.
• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program required.

Skills

• Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
• Knowledge of health care professional education and continuing educational requirements.
• Knowledge of clinical care processes across nursing clinical disciplines and expertise in applying clinical technology.
• Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
