New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.

About the role

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Insurance Compliance, the assigned staff member will review and approve insurance documents related to Discretionary contracts, ensure accuracy and proper processing, and provide support and follow-up with staff, providers, and insurance companies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Certificates of Insurance submitted to DYCD comply with established NYC Law Department requirements and DYCD policy and procedures.
  • Follow up with in-house staff on various insurance issues and assist with Certificates Compliance issues promptly and courteously.
  • Review Certificates of Insurance for conformity with established policy and procedures.
  • Submit and track all Certificates of Insurance sent to the Legal Unit for secondary review and approval; notify stakeholders and scan approved documents into the shared insurance drive.
  • Review, upload, and input data for approved Certificates of Insurance, Worker’s Compensation, and Disability certificates into ECMS and the shared drive.
  • Open and review mail in the Insurance Compliance Unit.
  • Provide technical support to providers to correct non-compliant Certificates of Insurance.
  • Utilize Passport and the Contract Management System to obtain budget information related to providers.
  • Work with the Mayor’s Office of Operations and Central Insurance Program by following policies and procedures for DYCD-funded agencies that elect to purchase insurance through the Citywide Central Insurance Program.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first qualification.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of target populations through management of relevant programs.
  • Extensive experience in developing human services programs and program budgets.
  • Knowledge of New York City contracting processes.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

$62,868.00 – $75,000.00
