Program Manager II, PM
Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is seeking a Program Manager II within 50 miles of Southfield, MI, Marshall, MI, or Galesburg, MI. The expected annual salary range for this role is $113,000 - $165,000. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Eaton announced the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company, with completion expected by the end of the first half of 2027. Compensation and benefits initially offered are based on Eaton's plans, programs, and practices. Further details will be provided by the new company if the transaction closes while you are actively employed in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, global New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialization projects/programs (STP, VA/VE, etc.) to deliver on business case cost and benefit commitments.
- Ensure rigorous application of Eaton NPI processes/tools (ProLaunch, ProPM, etc.) and coach cross-functional teams on these processes.
- Coach and mentor junior Program Managers (PM I) and interns.
- Manage the project lifecycle from development through launch, achieving business case financials for NPI, STP, or VAVE projects.
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive accountability and performance for commercial, technical, and manufacturing readiness at start of production.
- Develop and execute comprehensive project management plans that deliver on scope, schedule, and financial commitments.
- Guide teams from project initiation through planning, executing, monitoring, and closure.
- Influence and secure baseline business case expectations with key stakeholders regarding scope, benefits, costs, assumptions, risks, milestones, and implementation scenarios.
- Articulate and fully understand business case financials and content.
- Establish organizational resource management plans, clearly defining requirements for core team members, work package approvers, and decision gate committee members.
- Build effective cross-functional team dynamics by recognizing individual strengths and weaknesses, providing feedback, and fostering an atmosphere of learning and recognition.
- Drive proactive risk mitigation and methodical problem-solving.
- Leverage program management standard work processes, tools, systems, and performance measures to ensure operational cadence, agility, and transparency.
- Establish and execute effective internal and external stakeholder communication strategies addressing customer, leadership, and core team needs.
- Tailor messaging and lead project/program reviews with multiple levels of leadership to enable robust decision-making and risk mitigation.
- Develop negotiation strategies with functional partners to meet business case commitments for customer and supplier contract management.
- Ensure effective change management processes and contract language are designed and applied.
- Engage in new business proposal development by partnering on product strategy and roadmap initiatives.
- Strengthen skillsets in cross-functional and operational knowledge areas outside of previous domain expertise (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of Program Management experience or a combination of Program Management with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing/SCM, or Product Development.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing and leading projects.

Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive experience (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Master’s degree in Business or Engineering.
- Global experience in Program Management or a combination of Program Management with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing/SCM, or Product Development.
- PMP Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Experience in Requirements and Risk Management.
- Knowledge of product and project portfolio management principles.
- Knowledge of passenger car and commercial vehicle products/markets.
