The Tesla Internal Audit Team’s mission is to protect the company by calling attention to critical risks and driving management action to address those risks. The Team achieves its objective by collaborating with functional and business/product groups to identify areas of risk, make valuable recommendations on process and control improvements, cost reduction, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize a risk-based approach to plan, scope, and execute both short-term and complex audit projects within the construction and manufacturing environments
  • Audit project lifecycle from design through closeout, and activities such as procurement, contracting, safety, administration, compliance, productivity, and contractor management
  • Periodically perform onsite risk assessments and assurance activities over physical construction, the effectiveness of processes and controls, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities for cost saving and process improvement
  • Perform in-process and closeout construction cost and billings reviews
  • In addition to providing assurance around contractor cost and billing compliance, this position will provide well-thought-out recommendations around construction planning and execution, and work with management to drive change through process improvement and standardization
  • Prepare formal management reports and presentations covering audit observations and corresponding recommendations on operational and control improvements, and facilitate management action plans

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in construction management, procurement/contracts, internal audit, accounting, finance, process consulting, or a blend of related experience in manufacturing, industrial and high-tech industries
  • Comprehensive understanding of planning, scheduling, estimating, and cost management processes and procedures for various types of infrastructure and facilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction delivery methods, procurement, contracting, contract types, incentivization strategies, labor rate and cost buildup techniques, and equipment pricing
  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills for use in analysis, reporting, and data management
  • An intensely curious, solution-oriented individual who wants to know what, where, when, how, and (most importantly) why processes work the way they do. Works independently, collaboratively on a team, and with various stakeholders
