About the role

You will support the development of capabilities for Surface Ship Defense System (SSDS) equipped ships, initial development of Fleet Tactics and doctrine, and provide technical support for projects aimed at improving warfighting capability.

You will serve as the organizational lead responsible for exploring concepts of operation, force generation, force posture, sustainment and integration of future force platforms and capabilities.

You will research, develop, and apply concepts for achieving advantage at sea to improve current and future warfighting capabilities for the surface force in order to close lethality gaps in maritime warfare.

Responsibilities

  • Develop work plans, set priorities, identify development test efforts, and coordinate support for critical development efforts requiring direct input.
  • Provide well researched position papers and briefings that provide recommendations to develop and execute a comprehensive surface force plan.
  • Track and align efforts in surface force testing, experimentation, concept development and tactics, techniques and procedures validation.
  • Coordinate the integration of warfighting requirements based on current and projected fleet needs, and direction from fleet leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service if male and born after 12-31-59.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing fact finding and analytical techniques to identify problems and recommend corrective actions for programs that support the development of surface ship defense systems or warfighting capabilities.

  • Managing the development, integration, and testing of Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) or related Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) programs.
  • Formulate and devise new and unique U.S. Navy operational employment strategies and concepts to defeat emergent adversarial threats in response to fleet requests.
  • Provide leadership with expert tactical guidance and recommendations for achieving the organizations mission.

Skills

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs.
