Program Manager

About the role

The Program Manager at ThayerMahan Ocean Technologies will manage all phases of the program life cycle, from proposal development to contract closeout. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives, delivering presentations to customers and stakeholders, and managing program resources.

Responsibilities

• Leading and directing cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives
• Measuring and reporting program performance
• Delivering presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders
• Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, milestones schedule, and key terms and conditions
• Establishing design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test
• Identifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning
• Managing Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)
• Managing suppliers to meet program objectives
• Ensuring program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities
• Developing and adhering to master plans and schedules
• Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers or project management in other industries
• Proven experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
• Demonstrated success leading teams/organizations to achieve a common goal
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
• Willing and able to travel up to 15% of the time
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance
• US citizenship is required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, Master’s degree preferred
• Experience interfacing with DoW/USN customers preferred
• Maritime industry leadership experience preferred
• Experience conducting or managing operations at sea preferred
• Significant customer and senior (VP level) management engagement experience preferred

Schedule

This position is full-time on-site in Groton, CT.
