About the role
The Student Success and Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing undergraduate education, experiential learning, and student engagement within the Department of Horticultural Sciences. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and assessing high-impact learning experiences, as well as for student recruitment, admissions, retention, and outreach initiatives. The coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, industry partners, and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality educational and academic engagement experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate course and room scheduling, instructor assignments, enrollment capacities, and enrollment restrictions to support smooth program delivery and academic program logistics.
- Career development programming: Assist with student preparation, communication, and follow-up related to experiential learning opportunities.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for student success initiatives (non-academic advising).
- Create and maintain accurate records, documentation, and tracking for assigned programs and events.
- Represent the department at COALS UPC meetings.
- Support curriculum and program management, including new course and section creation, syllabi review, course renewals and revisions, undergraduate program creation, catalog and undergraduate handbook updates, and course compliance reviews.
- Provide undergraduate program overviews during new student orientation and prospective student visits to include course requirements, certificate programs, career tracks, internship and scholarship opportunities, and more.
Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of related experience
- Strong organizational, project coordination, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency with standard office software, learning management system, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, student success, or experiential learning programs
- Experience working with undergraduate student programs, or community engagement initiatives
- Familiarity with experiential learning or career development programming
- Knowledge of horticulture, agriculture, or related disciplines (preferred but not required)
