About the role

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is hiring a Program Manager within the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Unit to support the implementation of the agency's Racial Equity Plan. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and tracking the implementation of the plan and related activities. This position will report to the Chief Equity & Inclusion Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with staff across the agency to accomplish the equity goals and implement the strategies
  • Gather and track data on milestones, deliverables and performance indicators
  • Analyze, visualize and understand community data (ex. Demographic data)
  • Prepare and submit progress reports on agency commitments
  • Participate on committees and work groups, serve as a program liaison to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to public outreach and engagement to understand community perspectives
  • Support the development and preparation of equity plans
  • Develop recommendations on policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated experience and competency in advancing equity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to work well with others
  • Solid data gathering, analysis and visualization skills (particularly with demographic data)
  • Solid leadership skills and be able to build consensus and develop solutions for diverse stakeholders
  • Good understanding of project delivery within City government
  • Technical skills are a plus: ArcGIS Pro/AGOL, Excel, and PPT

Pay

$62,868.00 – $97,593.00

Schedule

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
