The C.A.R.E. Wellness Center is a 501(c)3-approved nonprofit organization founded in 2020 and based in Washington state. Christlike Agro-Tourism for Racial Equality (C.A.R.E.) develops safe, holistic spaces for people of color and allies of equality to retreat and combat effects of Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS). The program focuses on self-mastery and the holistic balancing of mind, body, and spirit. C.A.R.E. is non-religious and non-denominational, drawing on universal principles found in Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and A Course In Miracles. The mission is to foster inclusion and self-actualization through wellness programs, including the C.A.R.E. Summer Re-Entry Program (SREP), a research-based initiative supporting young BIPOC adults post-incarceration.

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Program Manager to lead our Programs Department. The ideal candidate will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of our wellness and advocacy programs. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for community service and a deep understanding of mental health and holistic practices. The position is volunteer-based, with potential to transition to full-time contingent on funding. While remote work is possible, Washington residency is preferred for local outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement program strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Lead a team of coordinators and volunteers to execute programs effectively.
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions to improve outcomes.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for mental health awareness and the importance of trauma-informed care.
  • Organize training and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for the Programs Team.
  • Organize program data, manage programs, and conduct evaluations.
  • Implement the Program Team’s Operations Manual.
  • Coordinate and lead weekly cross-functional meetings for status updates.
  • Assist in planning and overseeing significant program events.
  • Collaborate with community partners.
  • Supervise the Program Assistant.
  • Manage updates and edits to the Program Operations Manual.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, wellness practices, and community advocacy.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to drive program improvements.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of program delivery.
  • Typing speed of 35+ WPM.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Notion CRM, Slack, Yodel, and office machinery.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Flexible remote work with some in-office, meeting, and event attendance during quarterly program sessions.
  • Minimal bending, stooping, sitting, and kneeling; may require long periods of standing.
  • Exposure to animals, plants, perfume/incense, and nuts.
  • Infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Some local travel may be required.

Schedule

Part-time, flexible hours: Monday through Saturday, 10 AM–2 PM PST.
