This position is responsible for developing, managing and implementing a volunteer-led program strategy for South Cook County, the southern Chicagoland suburbs and surrounding areas. The primary goal is to increase constituent access to Alzheimer’s Association care and support programs by significantly growing and strengthening the volunteer base.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train and lead volunteers to deliver and grow programs in designated markets. Provide ongoing technical assistance, coaching and support.
- Ensure accountability by regularly monitoring volunteer impact and taking action to improve volunteer performance.
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of high-impact community partners using a relationship sales approach to grow the Association’s program reach.
- Expand collaborative agreements with current partners in community networks, organizations, service providers, nonprofits and faith institutions, and establish new community partnerships beyond traditional partners to reach underrepresented communities.
- Lead and plan efforts regarding community-based conferences as well as manage conference planning committees.
- Manage strategy and engagement opportunities with faith-based organizations in assigned region as well as provide oversight to colleagues across the state in their faith-based engagement efforts.
- Create urgency for the Alzheimer’s Association mission by promoting a full-mission value proposition to support campaigns such as quality care, fundraising and advocacy efforts throughout designated communities.
- Model and foster behaviors that contribute to a culture valuing staff, volunteer, and community partnerships consistent with the Association’s goals, best practices, and core values.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of program, community impact, volunteer performance data, and grant-funded projects (where applicable).
- Lead the Illinois Chapter’s faith-based organization engagement across the state and plan and lead the annual Release the Silence: An African American Community Conference held in April/May.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of experience in programs, volunteer and/or team management.
- Experience in community health and community volunteer mobilization a plus.
Skills
- Proven success in building and maintaining key relationships and meeting strategic goals through volunteer-led initiatives.
- Able to identify and cultivate relationships with community partners, organizations, volunteers, and diverse populations to create urgency around dementia awareness as a major health issue.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with others, hold others accountable, and reach mutually agreeable outcomes.
- Familiarity with a public health approach focused on health promotion and early detection.
- Experience building rapport/trust, assessing needs, and articulating a value proposition.
- Ability to represent the Association effectively to community partners, leaders, and corporate partners.
- Excellent written and presentation skills.
- General knowledge of community health, community-based organizations, and systems.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for community-based programming, volunteer management, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and other work-related events.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport up to 25 lbs of materials.
- Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn, Luminate/Convio software.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory by car. While most travel is same-day, occasional overnight or air travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, a good driving record, and proof of automobile insurance.
Pay
The Alzheimer's Association’s good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $70,000 – $75,000.

Schedule
Full-time, based on a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Work evenings and weekends as required for community-based programming and events.
