About the role
AECOM is seeking a Senior Program Manager (Water/Wastewater) with a proven track record in development and delivery of very large Water/Wastewater programs. This role will have responsibility for delivery of integrated, technically complex, multi-year, multi-project programs with large capital value, multiple stakeholders and high public visibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead and deliver large capital program(s) from planning through design and construction to final completion
- Identify and assess major program risks and develop and implement strategies to mitigate
- Optimize approaches to program technologies, budgets, schedules and procurement
- Act as primary liaison between AECOM, Client, and principal Stakeholders
- Support and participate in meetings, including public meetings
- Implement effective technical and management leadership and strategic direction to support successful program delivery
- Provide overall oversight, metrics and reporting on program scope/schedule/budget adherence for key tasks and program goals
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance to subordinate managers, staff and sub-consultants
- Drive good and timely decision making that supports the program objectives and goals
- Advocate for ethical and safe working practices and implement an effective safety and quality oversight program
- Accountable for overall financial success and delivery of the program(s)
- Collaborate with AECOM’s global water resources planning and engineering resources and our digital AECOM team and tools
- Coordinate with AECOM’s multidisciplinary planning, engineering and management practices
- Actively implement Client, company and project policies
Qualifications
- BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or related degree, and extensive experience in the planning, design and delivery of water/wastewater infrastructure projects, including conveyance, storage and tunnel projects
- Registered Professional Engineer and the ability to obtain a New York or New Jersey Professional Engineer’s License within 6 months of hire date
- Demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, collection and distribution systems
- Proven client/consultant relations experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 20 years of related experience in water/wastewater/water resources consulting and engineering management
- 12 years of experience as program manager for the planning, design and construction of complex water/wastewater infrastructure programs valued >$500M
- Candidates who are currently a registered Professional Engineer in the State of New York and New Jersey are highly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Participation in water community activities including Water Environment Federation and American Water Works Association
- Proven ability of leading business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, and managing project deliveries
- Proven leader with an interest in developing and mentoring team members
